Ανω Καστανιά

Δίκτυο Δρόμων

The village is crossed by two main roads which are accessible by car but consist mainly of footpaths. These roads lead to Neapoli, the nearest large town for supplies, but also to the cellars of Kastania, a church and fields.

The roads and paths are mainly made of concrete and are very well maintained by the inhabitants who take care of restoring and concreting them themselves. This is why a large part of the roads are painted. Flowers, lines, shapes, drawn in white by the inhabitants to "look good" as one of them will say. These various drawings give a certain identity and character to the different passages and also delimit each of them. These methods can also be found on private roads.

There are also a few dirt roads leading out of the village as well as some tiled or paved private roads, but these pale in comparison to the concrete roads.
